The answer would have to be, Butter Ball Soup. It is comfort in a bowl for me and reminds me of some of the happier times of my childhood.
This is my families recipe:
1 package 8ct hamburger buns
1/2 cup butter or margarine
4 eggs (beaten)
salt and pepper
1. in a large bowl shred the hamburger buns into small pieces.
2. in another bowl melt the better but donβt let it boil or get too hot, you don’t want it to cook the eggs when you add them. Add the eggs to the butter and mix well. add salt and pepper to taste.
3. add butter mixture to the buns a little at a time and with your hands mix the butter mixture with the buns until it gets to be around the consistency of wet stuffing.
4. Take the mixture into approximately quarter sized pieces and squeeze into ball shapes. Donβt be afraid to squeeze them too tightly because if they are too loose they will disintegrate into the soup.
5. Drop formed balls into finished chicken soup that is slow boiling. They should be done after about 10 minutes and then your soup is ready! π
Enjoy! π
